Abstract Background: Previous research suggests that green tea may offer protective effects against cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study explored the relationship between green tea intake and the development of CVD among overweight or obese individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Methods: A total of 4,756 Chinese adults diagnosed with T2D and classified as overweight or obese were followed for an average of 6.27 years. Data on green tea consumption were collected at baseline through interviewer-based questionnaires. The Cox proportional hazards model was applied to estimatehazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (Cis) for CVD incidence based on tea consumption levels.
